Jenny’s work combines the ancient to the modern, using traditional hand-building techniques to produce unique contemporary sculptural ceramic vessels. Each piece is individually decorated by using a method known as ‘sgraffito’ – freehand carving through a coloured layer of slip down to the clay below.
After working abroad for many years as a tour guide, her designs are largely influenced by a love of Asian and Middle Eastern art, including architectural carvings, ethnic jewellery, textile designs and the natural world. These influences fuse with aspects of blue and white Jasperware, made famous by the Wedgewood family. Her work is produced in soft, subtle shades and is left unglazed to give a raw, organic and contemporary quality to each piece.
Jenny’s work is made in Stoneware clay and fired to a high temperature. Commissions taken on request.
